The Residence Hall Association (RHA) serves as essential platforms for fostering community engagement, empowering residents, and addressing the needs of our diverse residential communities. RHA plays a crucial role in creating a vibrant and inclusive living environment within our residence halls.
The primary purpose of RHA is to provide residents with a voice in shaping their living experience and to facilitate communication between residents, hall staff, and administration. We organize events, initiatives, and advocacy efforts tailored to the unique needs and interests of each residential community.

Advocacy: We are dedicated to representing the interests and concerns of our residents, advocating for positive change within our residence halls, and serving as a voice for the student body.
Leadership Development: We are committed to providing opportunities for residents to develop leadership skills, grow personally and professionally, and make a positive impact on their community.
Inclusivity and Diversity: We embrace and celebrate the diversity of our community, recognizing the unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of each resident.
Service: We believe in giving back to our community through service projects, volunteer opportunities, and initiatives that make a difference in the lives of others.
Fun and Engagement: We strive to create a vibrant and engaging residential experience through social events, educational programs, and activities that promote connection and belonging.
Election Process: Community Council members are elected democratically by their peers through a process that typically involves gathering a certain number of signatures to demonstrate support. For example, to run for a position on the Community Council, candidates may need to collect 20 signatures from fellow residents endorsing their candidacy. This ensures that candidates have the backing of their community and are committed to representing their interests effectively.
Positions on Each Community Council: Community Councils typically consist of three core positions:
President: The President serves as the leader of the Community Council, responsible for setting goals, coordinating activities, and representing the council to external stakeholders. They work closely with other council members to ensure the effective functioning of the council and the fulfillment of its objectives.
Vice President: The Vice President supports the President in their duties and assumes leadership responsibilities in their absence. They collaborate with the President and other council members to plan and execute initiatives, address community concerns, and promote engagement among residents.
Treasurer: The Treasurer manages the financial affairs of the Community Council, including budgeting, fundraising, and financial reporting. They play a crucial role in ensuring the responsible use of council funds and resources to support community events and initiatives.
By electing dedicated individuals to these positions, Community Councils can effectively represent the interests of residents, facilitate positive change, and create a sense of belonging and connection within our residential communities. If you're interested in running for a position on your Community Council or learning more about how you can get involved, please reach out to your Hall Director or Resident Assistant for more information.
