Respondus is a tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed on paper or published directly to Canvas. StudyMate allows you to create Flash-based activities using easy-to-use templates that can be published directly to Canvas.  Follow the instructions below for installing Respondus and StudyMate.

Note: The desktop versions of Respondus and StudyMate only operate on the Windows operating system.  If you are a Mac user, use VMWare to log into the "Faculty & Staff" virtual desktop.

**StudyMate can still be used as an integration through Canvas, too. This does not require installing software on your computer.

 

Installing Respondus

Installation

  1. Download the Respondus installer.
  2. Double-click Respondus4Campus.exe to install Respondus.  The application is most likely in a folder called Downloads.
  3. On the InstallShield Wizard window, select English (United States) and click Next.
  4. On the Welcome screen, click Next.
  5. On the License Agreement screen, if you wish to accept the license agreement, click I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.
  6. On the Choose Destination Location screen, click Next to accept the default location for installation files.
  7. On the Projects Folder Location screen,  click Next to accept the default location for the projects folder.
  8. On the Ready to Install the Program screen, Click Install.
  9. A pop-up window will appear asking Do you want to install Respondus Equation Editor?.... Click Yes if you wish to install this application.  Proceed through this installation.  Click No if you choose to not install this application.
  10. Click Finish.

 

Configuring Respondus

  1. Double-click on the shortcut on your desktop called Respondus
  2. A pop-up window called Campus-wide License... will appear. 
  3. In the Institution Name field, type or cut and paste "Northern Kentucky University".  This field is case sensitive. 
  4. In the Local Support Contact(s)... field, type or cut and paste "Jeff Chesnut, e-mail: chesnutj@nku.edu".  This field is case sensitive. 
  5. In the Installation Password field, type or cut and paste "Y2407I981539128R8c0dcbfd14e4430c".  This field is case sensitive.
  6. Click License
  7. On the Respondus Newsletter pop-up window, choose to receive the Respondus newsletter or click Close.
  8. On the Update pop-up window, click OK to install an update.

Configuring Respondus to Publish to Canvas

Now that you have installed Respondus, you may want to configure Respondus so a quiz that is created in Respondus can be published to Canvas.  Watch this quick video for instructions:

Installing StudyMate

  1. Download the StudyMate Windows installer.
  2. Double-click StudyMateCampus25.exe to install StudyMate.  The application is most likely in a folder called Downloads.
  3. On the Welcome screen, click Next.

Configuring StudyMate

 

  1. Double-click on the shortcut on your desktop called StudyMate Author Campus-Wide.
  2. A pop-up window called Campus-wide License... will appear.

  6. Click License.
  7. On the StudyMate Author Newsletter pop-up window, choose to receive the StudyMate newsletter or click Close.
  8. On the Update pop-up window, click OK to install an update.
