Student financial aid can be applied to pay for the tuition of a study abroad program that is both credit-bearing and approved by our office. Students receiving scholarships with a study abroad stipend may apply that stipend to any credit-bearing, approved program.
Exactly how your aid may be applied will depend upon your program and the time of year during which you study abroad. Be aware that in order to receive federal financial aid over the summer, students must be enrolled in at least six credit hours. Thus, if you are participating in summer study abroad but are only taking three hours, you will either have to register for another three credit hours at NKU, or forego your summer federal financial aid.
It is always best to speak directly to the Office of Financial Aid and the Office of Student Account Services with specific questions about your personal financial aid.
By setting up your own site, you can ask friends and family for small donations while sharing with them the details of your proposed study abroad program.
