“Amanda has been an inspiration as I have started my career at NKU. She is, of course, incredibly supportive of the students in her office, but she is always ready to help other programs. As a member of the informal committee of the new CARE Closet at NKU, Amanda was integral in making connections with a local community partner that has made the CARE Closet possible. Without her help, we would still be trying to figure out how to make that dream come true! Amanda has and continues to strive to empower parents attending NKU. She works with not only campus partners, but community partners in establishing a network of support and access for so many of our NKU students. I have witnessed her go above and beyond on the behalf of a student, because she understands how listening and guidance goes a long way toward student success. She has created meaningful initiatives that approach NKU parents holistically and creates a sense of belonging for students."

What is your favorite thing about NKU?
My favorite thing about NKU is the close-knit feeling and culture.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? What makes that spot so special?
My favorite spot on campus is the Early Learning Campus. When I began my journey at NKU as an undergrad student, I not only utilized the ELC for the care of my then two-year old son, but also worked in the classroom as an assistance.  It is where my passion for teaching and my confidence as a parent flourished. It feels like home every time I go back.

What is the first word that comes to mind when you think about NKU?
Community.

What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
In my free time, I love to bake. Before I had all of my children, I used to decorate cakes as a side business.

What is your greatest passion?
My greatest passion is serving others. As a former teen parent, I had so many people and supports that came into my life to help me get to where I am today.  The thought of being able to pay it forward and help out those students that are walking a similar path as I did, is so rewarding.
