"Amy is a shining example of a woman helping other women and our extended NKU families. Amy supports other women in every way possible. One example of this is her support of working mothers. Amy has helped countless mothers and mothers-to-be reach a work-life balance. She offers not only her emotional support but also freely shares her experience and guidance. She has helped mothers have a successful maternity leave and a prepared return to the office."

What is your favorite thing about NKU?
I can only pick one?! I absolutely love the sense of belonging at NKU. Seeing students, faculty, staff and alumni finding their niche, their people and their flow to inspire them to get motivated and focused on higher education is one of the best things to witness at NKU.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? What makes that spot so special?
The University Center. It’s the Student Success Hub–which means everywhere you look, you can see students learning and tackling obstacles in their way. You can also witness faculty and staff next to the students–teaching, guiding and celebrating with them.

What is the first word that comes to mind when you think about NKU?
Home.

What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
What’s free time? I love every minute I get to spend with my kiddos and husband. Being a mom is a gift that I get to wake up to each and every morning, and I intend to use all of my free time engulfed in that gift.

What is your greatest passion?
Advocating for doing the right thing. Whether it’s teaching implicit bias, making the case for adults to get college credit for the learning they’ve acquired through work, life and military experiences or ensuring access for everyone who wants a college degree–my heart and head are in the work 100 percent.

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or NKU that you want folks to know.
I’m currently working with an amazing group of faculty and staff across campus to develop a paid parental leave policy at NKU. If you have a story about how paid parental leave would have helped you, I’d love to hear from you!
