What is your favorite thing about NKU?
My favorite thing about NKU is the students. They are the bright spot of my day, every day. When I walk into class and see my students, I am immediately happy and energized. Every semester, I learn so much from them. I learn mathematics, and I learn about how students think mathematically. I also learn about myself as a teacher and a person.
Where is your favorite spot on campus? What makes that spot so special?
My favorite spot on campus is my office. It is special to me because it is where I do so many of the things I love: meeting with students, chatting with colleagues, doing mathematics and thinking about how to talk to my students about mathematics. It is so cozy and the place where I can relax and do what I love.
What is the first word that comes to mind when you think about NKU?
Home. I am home at NKU. When I first arrived on campus in 1999, I felt the warmth and friendliness of the faculty, staff and students. And I continue to feel those feelings today.
What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
In my free time, I like to run, practice hot yoga and read memoirs. Very recently, even the things I do in my free time often include my NKU family; running with faculty friends and students, practicing hot yoga with NKU friends and inviting others to join me and reading memoirs with or written by NKU colleagues.
What is your greatest passion?
My greatest passion is trying to be a positive influence in the lives of my students, promoting positive attitudes toward mathematics and each other.
