"Professor Kinsley is a role model and supporter of all her students. She has dedicated her career to helping those who cannot help themselves-—taking on racism, human trafficking and homelessness to name but a few. Too often in the legal profession, femininity can be seen as a bad thing, as a weakness, but Professor Kinsley has shown that women can be formidable while still being themselves. She is an excellent role model."

What is your favorite thing about NKU?
My favorite thing about NKU is the students. They are smart, curious, hardworking and strong. They show up for themselves and each other with tremendous heart, courage and dedication. They inspire me every day to do better and be better.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? What makes that spot so special?
I’m a huge fan of the Rec Center. I love that I can do a track workout, swim, lift and play basketball with my kids all in the same facility. It’s fun to work out alongside students and colleagues. We are so lucky to have this great treasure on campus.

What is the first word that comes to mind when you think about NKU?
Dreams. NKU is a place where students can transform their dreams into reality.

What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
Moving very fast and sitting very still. I’m an avid marathon runner (14 marathons and counting!) and word game fanatic. I love to clear my mind on a long run and then fill it back up again with crossword puzzles, scrabble and poetry.

What is your greatest passion?
My greatest passion in life is to speak up and fight for the voiceless, the powerless and the disenfranchised. Nothing stirs me to action more than seeing someone be mistreated because of their race, gender, sexual orientation, country of origin or for making a mistake. In my eyes, all people are valuable, worthy and deserving of human connection, and I will not stop fighting for marginalized people until our system of justice embodies the values of basic human dignity and equality it aims to serve.

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or NKU that you want folks to know.
I was the first female president of the First Amendment Lawyers Association and have tried more obscenity cases than any other female lawyer in the country.
