What is your favorite thing about NKU?
My favorite "thing" about NKU is the people—the students, alumni, faculty and staff. Overall, I think most people are really committed to helping everyone be the best they can be, which ultimately helps the university and the region be the best they can be.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? What makes that spot so special?
One of my favorite spots is the rooftop patio in the Health Innovations Center connected to Founders Hall. We've had some great MPA events there, including our 30th anniversary reception this year. Also, it can be a good place to eat lunch and/or get some sunshine.

What is the first word that comes to mind when you think about NKU
One of the first words that comes to mind is "aspiring." On many different levels at NKU—as an institution, within departments and programs, individual professors and students—there seems to be strong desire and determination to work toward improvement. I think that's a good quality because where there is aspiration, there tends to be hope, dreams, passion and inspiration.

What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
When I have a lot of free time, I love to travel. But on a more regular basis, I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, doing something outside if possible. That could be walking in our neighborhood, biking on the Loveland Trail or going to local events like Bockfest in OTR or Play in the Park in Kennedy Heights.

What is your greatest passion?
Personally, my greatest passion is my family and friends. Professionally, I am very committed to public service and community service. This plays out in various ways like using service learning and student philanthropy in my MPA classes, connecting our students to government and nonprofit organizations for internships and jobs and doing research on community-based programs and events. I feel very fortunate that my position at NKU allows me—and encourages me—to work in these ways.
