For
Raven McNeal, choosing Northern Kentucky University was an easy decision.
Raven, who grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky, felt like she was more than just a number when she first came to campus.
“It was so easy for me to connect with people and learn more about myself in the process,” she says. “The sense of community here really is indescribable. I didn’t feel like I could get that type of connection anywhere else.”
Raven, an
English Literature major with a minor in
Electronic Media and Broadcasting, has a love of storytelling and meeting new people.
NKU's
Honors College gave Raven a head start on pursuing her passions, and her ambition didn't go unnoticed. She recently received two scholarships, the Sheldon B. & Fern H. Storer Honors Scholarship and the Tom and Fran Zaniello Honors Scholarship, to help her continue her education at NKU.
"I'm so thankful for these awards," she says. "The Honors College has played a huge part in my time here at NKU—it has been extremely impactful for my college experience, and it has helped develop who I am as a student and a leader. The Honors College has offered me the opportunity to connect with other amazing students and broaden my perspective in all areas of my life.”
