Degree: BFA Theatre Acting (‘15)
What are you up to now?
Currently, I work as a teaching artist for Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati’s Hunter Heartbeat program, and also at the Cincinnati Public Library. I have an acting/writing project coming up that I’m very excited about, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy about that until the end of April.
How did NKU help you on your journey?
NKU introduced me to a broader world of people and ideas. I’m originally from a town in Western Kentucky with a population of less than 1200 people. I met professors and peers at NKU that challenged me academically and artistically. I found some incredible friends and mentors during my time in school, but I also found the beginnings of self-confidence. And I was introduced to the fantastic Cincinnati theatre community! I’m still working on trusting myself and my artistic instincts, but as my former professor, Sandra Forman, would say, “every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better.” Who can ask for anything more?
What is some advice you would give to prospective/current students?
Be open to all the people and ideas you’ll encounter in your college years. Some of them won’t serve you and your goals, and that’s okay, but so many others will. Really listen to and lean on the professors, administrators, and staff that you trust. Listen to your gut, work hard, and be full of love for yourself and those around you.
