Dear Colleagues:

I am saddened to share the news of the passing of one of our staff members, Douglas Godbey, on July 7. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Doug’s wife, Sarah, as well as his family, friends and colleagues.

Doug joined NKU in May 2017 as an inventory manager and led the effort to merge two warehouses into one. He was instrumental in helping negotiate and acquire materials and equipment to help our facilities team navigate the pandemic.

His colleagues remember Doug as a thoughtful man who had a dry sense of humor. They say Doug enjoyed talking with people as they stopped by the warehouse, and he could be counted on to share a joke, talk about the latest Reds game or a new craft brewery. Doug was a singer/songwriter, and his passion was music. You could often hear him singing in his office or out in the community when he performed with his band, Bows and Arrows.

Doug will be missed by the many people he connected with here at NKU. For those who knew Doug, we encourage you to reach out and ask for the support you need. Please remember University Wellness provides the Employee Assistance Program through Aetna. It offers online resources and counselors available anytime.

My sympathies go out to Doug’s family and friends.

Sincerely,
Ashish Vaidya
