Subject: Semester Update from Vice President Howard

Hello Norse Nation,

By now you should have read President Vaidya’s message regarding the delay of the 2022 Spring semester. As your Vice President for Student Affairs, I want to assure you that this delay is a temporary measure designed to address the concerns presented by the new Omicron variant of COVID-19.

We have also made some adjustments to services beginning tomorrow, January 5th until the start of the semester on January 18th.

University Housing

As previously communicated to all residential students, University Housing move-in dates have been delayed to Friday, January 14th and Saturday, January 15th

Campus Recreation

The Recreation Center will close to patrons effective tonight and reopen on January 14th at 6:30 AM.

Student Union and University Center

7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5th through Friday, January 7th
Closed Saturday, January 8th and Sunday, January 9th
7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 10th through Thursday, January 13th
7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 14th

The staff in the Division of Student Affairs have been working diligently to adjust programs and services to meet the new academic timeline. The Student Affairs calendar will be available in the next couple of days. It is full of exciting events and activities that we have planned for all our students. I encourage you to attend as many events as possible, be it virtually or in-person. This will ensure that you will have a memorable spring semester. The latest information about the Omicron variant, coupled with the measures that we have taken, make me confident that we will soon return to operations like this past Fall semester.

As always, it a is pleasure to serve as your Vice President for Student Affairs. Our goal is to create the best experience for students that is humanly possible, so stay safe and let us know how we can be of service.

Take care and Go Norse!

Dr. Howard
