Considering the current dual-credit rate set by the state of Kentucky, the average tuition bill for Young Scholars is $1,410 per semester based on a 15 credit hour schedule.
NKU's in-state tuition rate per semester is $5,544 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Our scholars are saving an average of $4,134 per semester, and $16,536 over the duration of the two-year program - just on tuition alone!
Paper bills will not be sent home. Please check the "Student Billing" tab on your myNKU account for your current billing statement. Tuition bills are usually available approximately one month prior to the start of class. Bills will also be sent to your NKU email account.
If your home school covers your tuition for Young Scholars Academy, you will still receive a bill in your NKU email account, however, this balance will be paid directly by your school.

KHEAA provides a scholarship for public, private, and home schooled students. Students will be eligible to receive scholarships for two general education daul-credit courses each year during the 11th and 12th grade years.
Award determination will be made by KHEAA and students will be notified by KHEAA. For more information, please contact KHEAA.
Students should work with their school counselor to make their scholarship selections on their KHEAA account. Students who have made selections and anticipate receiving a scholarship through the KHEAA Dual Credit/Work Ready program may see a balance on their account for covered classes. KHEAA does not begin to disburse scholarships for fall term until after October 1 and for spring term until after February 15. If students pay their tuition out-of-pocket and are awarded a scholarship afterward, NKU will refund those payments. Students who are taking classes that are not covered by KHEAA scholarships should make their payment by the first day of classes.
Please email ysa@nku.edu if you have any questions.
Students have the opportunity to utilize KHEAA's Work Ready Scholarship towards some of their dual-credit coursework; however, approved dual-credit courses for the Work Ready Scholarship are limited to Career and Technical Education (CTE) coursework that is in a career pathway approved by the Kentucky Department of Education as leading to an industry‐recognized credential.
Eligible students can only use the Work Ready Scholarship toward two eligible courses each school year. Per KHEAA, the following courses qualify for the Work Ready Scholarship:
If you have a question about whether one of your courses will be eligible for the Work Ready Scholarship, please contact ysa@nku.edu. Award determination will be made by KHEAA and students will be notified by KHEAA. For more information, please contact KHEAA.
