Truist Arena at Northern Kentucky University is a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facility prominently located at the Nunn Drive and University Drive intersection. This facility includes an arena accommodating up to 10,000 spectators, 14 luxury suites, 2 party suites and other fan amenities. First year events included Carrie Underwood, Alan Jackson, and a NKU men's basketball exhibition game against the University of Louisville. The versatility of this facility will provide great economic benefit for the local economy.
Although the center was not fully complete until July 16, 2008, the May 2008 NKU commencement ceremony was held in the facility, marking the first time since 2000 that NKU commencement ceremonies had been held on campus.
Funding for this facility included a $6 million donation by the Bank of Kentucky, a Northern Kentucky financial institution. This generous commitment served to leverage state funding for this long awaited campus facility.
Truist Arena, as it is commonly known, houses the office of Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, offices and support facilities for the men's and women's basketball programs, and the offices of SMG, the facility manager/operator.
