Prior to completion of BB&T Arena at Northern Kentucky University (previously The Bank of Kentucky Center) in 2008, all men's and women's basketball games were played in Regents Hall. The second facility completed on the Highland Heights campus, Regents Hall won national recognition as a coordinated structure by The American Consulting Engineers Council in 1973. The completion of Regents Hall and Nunn Hall were celebrated in a Campus Open House held October 29, 1972.

On May 16, 2006, President George W. Bush visited campus, giving a speech to a standing room only crowd in Regents Hall.
