Oral presentation instructions and process

Students opting to present oral presentations will create 10-12 minute presentations to be delivered in person with a visual component (typically a PowerPoint presentation).

  • Students will be assigned a specific time slot (preference are collected at time of submission and should be selected in consultation with your faculty mentor).
  • Students should arrive a few minutes prior to the start of their session and plan to stay the entire hour as you may receive questions about your presentation during the last 10 minutes of the session.
  • A planning committee volunteer will be attending your session to introduce each presenter, act as a time keeper and moderate the questions at the end of the session.

Oral presentations are eligible for awards. Abstracts are critical in the submission and award process as they are the first round of review in the awards process - only those moving on to the next round will be evaluated during their presentations.

Students should bring their presentation on an easily accessible drive to load their presentations at the start of their session. Logging into emails or other systems can be challenging in moments of pressure and may delay the start of the session.
