If you are eligible for the University’s Basic Life Plan you are eligible to elect additional coverage. You choose the level of coverage that best suits your needs. Coverage includes; Optional Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance and Dependent Life.

Evidence of Insurability (EOI) may be required for coverage options at Annual Enrollment. You will receive the EOI at your home address or NKU email from Hartford. Your coverage will be affective after approval from the Hartford. See chart below for EOI requirements.
New hires are guarenteed issue up to the maximum amount of optional life/AD&D insurance.

You can purchase Optional Dependent Life Insurance through the Hartford for your child(ren) and/or spouse. Unmarried Children up to age 18 can be covered, or over 18 if enrolled full time in a credited institute for learning, for $5,000 or $10,000. Spouses can be covered for $10,000, $25,000, or $50,000. You can elect coverage at hire or Annual Enrollment.
Please note: If your spouse works for NKU in a benefit eligible position, only one of you may elect dependent life child coverage. Neither you or your spouse may elect dependent life spouse.
