The Christopher Gist Historical Society Collection was donated to Northern Kentucky University in two parts. In 1972 a bequest from the Gist Society became the foundation for the NKU Special Collections and University Archives. In 1981 a second bequest was made. Within the collection are copies of unpublished papers read before the Christopher Gist Society between 1949 and 1980, mostly concerning Northern Kentucky history, as well as meeting minutes of the Gist Society, the Champion Ice Manufacturing and Cold Storage Company, the Corcoran Brown Lamp Company of Cincinnati, OH, the Board of Park Commissioners of Covington, KY, Kentucky North Bend (Boone County) Agricultural Society, the Covington Gaslight Company, and addresses before the Philomathean Society. In addition, there are a large number of scrapbooks created by members of the society, which deal extensively with the life of Abraham Lincoln, his assassination, and the Civil War, items related to the Kentucky Counties Project, and other items of interest to those researching the history of this area.
