NKU Key Control has a program that helps streamline the process of requesting, receiving, and viewing keys for an entire department or multiple departments. Keys are requested through an online portal, reducing paper usage, administrative approvals and time spent on yearly key audits.
How it Works:
Each Department Head will sign a document making an individual or two key designee(s) for their department. Key Designee Authorization Form
This designee will serve as Work Control’s contact person on all key issues including request, receipt and return of keys on behalf of the department’s staff, faculty, and students. The designee will also have full access to NKU's web-based key management portal, allowing requests and record management to be completed online. As such, this designation is a full equivalent of signatory authorization of the Department Head for all access related matters. The department key designee will retain key authorization until the Department Head notifies Work Control of changes.
Once the key designee authorization document is signed and returned to work control at NKUKeyControl@NKU.edu, the new key designee will receive a login to the Key Online Portal, where the designee will be able to view all department keys, have the ability to request new keys, transfer keys, upload key agreements, see what keys employees in the department already have, and look up what keys open what doors. They will also be able see where in the process a requested key is in the approval, cutting and delivery process.
