In light of today’s events in downtown Cincinnati, I would like to express sympathy and concern for all who have been affected by this tragedy.  It is our hope that our campus community, along with their family and friends, are safe. If you have been impacted by this incident and would like to speak with someone, please reach out to our Health, Counseling & Student Wellness Center at (859) 572-5650 or click here to view all the resources available to you.

Creating a secure environment for our students, faculty, staff and guests is a top priority here at Northern Kentucky University.  We are fortunate to have a dedicated police force comprised of talented men and women who are committed to ensuring the safety of all who are on or around NKU’s campus.  Additionally, we provide the NORSE ALERT platform as a source to deliver timely notifications to the campus community in the event of an emergency situation or campus closing. Click here to learn more about NORSE ALERT.

I urge everyone on campus to always be aware of any unusual circumstances and to immediately notify NKU Police. Should you come in contact with an individual who is being disruptive, appears dangerous or is armed, we have safety protocols in place for you to follow.  Click here to view these safety protocols.

We all play a role in maintaining our personal and campus safety. Please do not hesitate to reach out to NKU Police with any security or safety concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Ashish Vaidya
