Northern Kentucky University has three councils and one association that oversee its 23 chapters and organizations:
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing body for all of NKU's historically black Greek letter organizations. The NPHC community at NKU consists of 7 chapters, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.
Multicultural Greek Organizations are groups dedicated to fostering an immersive social experience with other people that may have different or unique heritages or backgrounds. Joining a multicultural organization is an opportunity to make friends with people who share your interest in engaging with others from different backgrounds. NKU's current multicultural groups include Alpha Psi Lambda.
