What is Wellness?

“Wellness is an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence” (The National Wellness Institute, 2024).

Wellness is an ongoing process. It involves a shift in mindset – from unconscious living (where we only think about our health when we experience challenges or difficulties) to conscious living (where we are actively making choices to promote health and wellbeing).

Vision for Student Wellness Education

To support a culture of wellness by providing educational resources and programming designed to help students develop knowledge and skills to manage their health and well-being throughout their lifetimes.

Mission of Student Wellness Education

Our mission is to equip students with the knowledge and resources necessary to make informed choices about their health and well-being. Through evidence-based education and a supportive, welcoming environment, we empower learners to thrive personally and academically.

Engaging with Wellness

We encourage students to pursue a proactive, balanced approach to well-being, guided by the 10 Dimensions of Wellness. This comprehensive strategy highlights the many interconnected factors that contribute to a balanced and fulfilling life.

Students are invited to engage with a variety of educational workshops, activities and resources to support their unique interests and wellness goals.
