Dear graduate,
We are about a month away from the commencement ceremonies. Here are answers to the most common questions about commencement:
RSVP and rehearsal
No RSVP is required. There is no rehearsal for graduates. Volunteers will be at Truist Arena to direct you and answer questions.
Guests and tickets
Guests do not need tickets, and there is no limit on attendance. Seating is first-come, first-served. All ceremonies will be streamed live at nku.edu/commencement on Saturday, Dec. 13, with recordings available afterward on NKU’s YouTube channel.
Arrival and lineup
Graduates should arrive 90 minutes before the ceremony, dressed in regalia. Enter through the Vault entrance. Guests enter through the main or east gates. At check-in, graduates will receive a name card and proceed to the lineup area to confirm name pronunciation and their lineup position. Keep personal items with you or with a guest; nothing may be left in the lineup area.
Academic honors
Undergraduates with a GPA of 3.50 or higher may pick up honor cords at their dean’s office or upon arrival at the commencement ceremony. Master’s and doctoral candidates are not eligible. Changes to honors status after final grades will appear on your diploma but not in the printed program.
Tassel placement and cap decorations
Tassels for bachelor’s students start on the right and move to the left once degrees are conferred. Graduate students wear tassels on the left throughout. Caps may be decorated with tasteful designs only.
Family and friends messages
Friends, family, faculty and graduates can submit messages of congratulations or thanks that will appear on the ribbon boards at Truist Arena during commencement.
