The courses in our General Education program are diverse. As you may already know, we organize our courses by categories. ASL 110 Beginning American Sign Language I (Culture and Creativity)
This course addresses the basics of sign language for everyday use in communities when engaging with someone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Grammar is introduced in context, with an emphasis on developing question and answering skills, and vocabulary centers on interacting with others about people and our environment.
REL 225 African American Religious Experience (Culture and Creativity)
This course will explore the diversity of African American religions, from African roots to the Civil Rights movement, from Rastafari to the Five-Percenters and Malcolm X. We will examine how African American religions have been instrumental in the struggle against oppression as well as in creating opportunities within American culture.
AST 120 Astrophysics for Beginners (Natural Science; 3 credit hours)
Study of the Physics behind topics in Astrophysics, such as the solar system, life and death of stars, galaxies, black holes, and cosmology, placing emphasis on the experimental evidence behind these as a way of illustrating how modern science works.
