OIT Achievement of the Month

We all know that OIT staff members are doing an amazing job all over campus, but sometimes we’re working so hard to serve the university, we don’t have a chance to learn about all the worthwhile things our coworkers are doing. To increase that awareness, and remind us how many different ways OIT contributes to NKU’s success on a daily basis, OIT has a peer-based employee recognition program to celebrate those accomplishments.

Nominations for the OIT Achievement of the Month can be submitted for and by any OIT employee or team, describing a significant accomplishment of another OIT person or group. A rotating committee of employees from across the different areas of OIT will review the submissions and choose one as that month’s featured achievement. The team member(s) involved in the achievement will be rewarded with a choice from a list of incentives in honor of the job well done, and all of the nominations will be shared with the OIT staff to recognize and celebrate our overall accomplishments.

December OIT Achievement of the Month 2017

December’s nomination was for an improvement to help desk operations that benefits any campus user whose account is compromised after a phishing attack.

Last semester Ethan Perry created a new automated system that removes the manual step, previously completed only by the server team, of enabling a user’s active directory account after a lockout. “Depending on how busy the server team was, this could sometimes cause a long wait for the users that we couldn’t estimate if it came in at the wrong time (especially if the lock occurred outside of business hours). But now, the entire problem can be fixed by the Help Desk staff, while communicating directly with the user, and it only takes a maximum of 5 minutes to process.”

The nomination goes on to read, “Ethan always goes above and beyond what is expected of him!”

Our IT staff are constantly working to exceed customer expectations and improve user experience. Thanks Ethan for your innovative & customer-focused solution.

Annual IT Staff Awards
