▢ Canvas
All online classes at NKU use Canvas. Learn the basics from CITE under "Quick-Start Resources for Students".
▢ Zoom
Zoom is used heavily for synchronous instruction and virtual meetings.
▢ Kaltura
Kaltura is a tool you can use to upload your mp4 or mp3 files, record your computer screen, and then add those videos to a discussion or assignment. Learn the basics from CITE under "Quick-Start Resources for Students".
Online versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are all available through Office 365. To access them, simply log in to NKU Webmail. Find what you need by clicking the menu icon in the top left corner.
Students can also download Microsoft Office on personally owned computers (Windows and Apple).
All students automatically have free cloud storage with Microsoft OneDrive. OneDrive allows you to easily share files with other students at NKU.
Do you need to borrow a laptop, iPad, hot spot, or other equipment for class? Submit a Service Request, then pick up your equipment at the Norse Tech Bar once it is ready.
NKU offers a convenient solution for accessing NKU software and drives wherever you are from any device - a virtual desktop.
A list of software available on NKU's virtual desktops can be found on the Virtual Desktop page.
If you use VMware, remember that you are accessing an NKU virtual desktop, not your personal workstation. All files not saved using cloud storage (e.g. OneDrive) or to the K: or M: drives will be lost when you disconnect.

▢ Minimum Computer Configurations
Ensure your personal computer meets the standards for classes at NKU. Chromebooks are not recommended; they will not work with many software products required for classes and exams.
