Women for NKU Connect – Elevating Excellence in Women’s Sports

Members and guests heard from Women’s Basketball Jeff Hans regarding the importance of supporting women athletes with scholarships and opportunities for personal and professional promotion through NIL, and from President Cady Short-Thompson about the critical role sports plays in leadership development and academic success for women students. Guests also enjoyed drinks and appetizers courtesy of Crafts & Vines, owned and operated by alumna Lesley Hugo ’93.

Attendees enjoyed remarks from Covington Business Council Director Pat Frew, and NKU President Cady Short-Thompson on the critical partnerships between the business community and the university, and the opportunities for members of Women for NKU to make a difference. Guests also enjoyed a 15% discount on purchases at the boutique, as well as drinks and appetizers from Juniper’s Gin Bar, owned and operated by alumna Lesley Hugo ’93.

Nearly 250 joined President Cady-Short Thompson on April 23 to celebrate the launch of Women for NKU. The President shared her vision for NKU including a vibrant campus culture, expanded connections to regional P-12 education partners, and strengthened corporate partnerships to ensure students have opportunities to be job-ready through internships, co-ops and other experiential learning and the ways that Women for NKU members will make a direct impact on these priorities.
