The Office of LGBTQA+ Student Initiatives cultivates a sense of belonging and interconnectedness by fostering an inclusive environment for each student on the gender and sexuality spectrum through an intersectional approach to visible and consistent identity-affirming programming and offer growth opportunities situated in an evidence-based culturally-relevant curriculum. LGBTQA+ Student Initiatives advises several registered student organizations, offer allyship trainings to students, educational program and community building events. The primary goal of LGBTQA+ Student Initiatives is to fully see, welcome and support all members of the NKU community within the gender and sexuality spectrum.

Vision:   We, the Office of LGBTQA+ Student Initiatives, envision an identity-affirming and inclusive environment for all students on the gender and sexuality spectrum to feel welcome, seen, and supported.

We create a welcoming and inclusive environment through authentic expression and inclusive representations of the LGBTQA+ experience. We use an intersectional approach to visible and consistent identity-affirming programming to promote academic success and persistence to graduation. We cultivate a sense of belonging and interconnectedness by supporting and challenging our LGBTQA+ students on their journeys to understand, articulate, and celebrate their identities.

Students who engages with the LGBTQA+ Student Initiatives office will:   

  • WELCOME - Develop healthy, respectful, and collaborative skillsets to build and maintain meaningful connections and community (Student Experience/Intercultural Understanding).  
  • SEE- Acquire skillsets to build intergenerational partnerships to enhance academic and post-graduation success (Access and Persistence to Graduation/Scholarship).  
  • SUPPORT- Learn cognitive and practical skills to articulate a positive sense of self and their unique LGBTQA experience (Interconnectedness/Inclusive Engagement and Belonging).
