Link to Policy Under Review: Alcoholic Beverages
Type (New, Revision, etc.): Revision
Description: In addition to updating and clarifying language, this revision proposes a significant change to the current Alcoholic Beverages policy in that it would allow Northern Terrace residents have alcohol in their rooms, with the intention of making this residence hall more appealing to students 21+. Additional protocols for Northern Terrace would be established outside this policy (e.g., banning kegs, restricting residents to those 21 and older, and providing special training for resident assistants). At least two other Kentucky public universities permit alcohol in certain residence halls. Upon consultation and approval of Faculty Senate, the University Alcoholic Beverage Policy and Regulations in the Faculty Handbook (Section 16.20) will be correspondingly updated.
Applicability: This policy applies to the use of alcoholic beverages in all spaces and activities on the NKU's campus, including residence halls; the conduct of all individuals, groups, and entities while on the University’s campus, including employees, students, student organizations, contractors and service providers, and visitors; University-organized activities and functions that occur off campus; and the performance of University responsibilities by employees on and off campus.
