The Center Excellence in Teaching and Innovation (CETI) exists to support NKU faculty and staff in their primary work, which is to provide students with a relevant and meaningful academic experience in a campus environment that is both welcoming and safe, while removing barriers that interfere with student success and graduation. To that end, the CETI facilitates Educator Learning Communities, hosts workshops on topics of interest to faculty and staff, provides guidance and support for SoTL projects, and plans the annual Norse Educator Summit (NES).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I register for one of the institutes?

A. You should receive regular emails to the faculty listserv that will contain links to registration forms (usually through Qualtrics) for institutes and ELCs. For single-event workshops, there is no registration required; simply use the Zoom link to join at the start time.

Q. I am developing or redeveloping a course in the next couple of semesters. How can I work with an ID to develop that (and get paid a stipend for it?)

A. We offer several institutes and workshops over the course of a semester or year that can provide you with the skills and knowledge to transform your course materials into a student-friendly, comprehensive learning experience, including Transformative Education, the Course Design Institute, and the Guided Course Development. The Guided Course Development Institute will be an opportunity to work one-on-one with an ID as well as in a cohort with other faculty to develop your course for an official review. At the end of each Institute, you will receive a stipend for successful completion.

Q. How is eligibility for the Institute stipends determined?

A. There are a number of factors that determine your eligibility, including your employment classification (12-month contract, staff, 9-month, etc.) as well as your active participation in the institute or ELC as per your signed agreement. Partial completion may result in a partial payment.

Q. Can I still sign up if I'm not eligible for the stipend?

A. Of course! You can still gain a badge and certificate for your participation in the events.

Q. Why does my stipend confirmation show up as 3 separate payments?

A. The payment is divided over the time that the institute ran, but you will receive a single, lump-sum payment for the full amount that you qualified for after completion of the institute and release of the funds.
