Workday ERP Update

What's Happening Now
We are excited to share that the Plan Phase of NKU's Workday Platform implementation (covering HCM, Finance, and Payroll) is nearing completion and will wrap up on Friday, July 11.

Here's what we've accomplished so far:

  • Foundation Data Models have been reviewed and finalized
  • Data specification files were created to guide our transition
  • Discovery calls were conducted to ensure all requirements are captured

Next, we'll be loading our data into a "Foundation" tenant, which will serve as the base for the upcoming Architect & Configure Phase (July 14 – December 12, 2025). This phase will focus on designing and configuring the system to fit NKU's needs. The culmination of the Architect & Configure phase will be an End-to-End Testing tenant for the next phase, starting January 2026.

NKU Receives Cisco Customer Achievement Award!

Northern Kentucky University is the winner of the 2025 Cisco Customer Achievement Award for Future-Proofed Workplaces - Workplace Wizard! Our IT Network and Telecom Teams at NKU have worked very hard over the past two years to replace the network infrastructure to modernize, upgrade, and secure the university.

Multiple projects included installing new wireless access points, network switches, and routers across campus, as well as installing new Firewalls, VPN access, and upgrading to our new cloud-based WebEx phone system. Project team members include Bryan Workman, Paul Ritter, Joe Thompson, Brian Yahl, Wendy Seifert, Courtney Clark Rankin, and Project Manager Kerri Beach.

Duo App

If you have a smartphone, we encourage you to download the Duo Mobile app for a smoother and more secure login experience. With the app, you can simply tap "Accept" instead of manually entering a text message code, saving you time and reducing NKU costs. Need help setting it up?  Contact the IT Help Desk, where our team will be happy to assist you!

Do you have unused desk phones in your office?

IT is collecting old or unneeded desk phones for recycling or reuse. If you have any devices to return, please submit a service request, and a member of the IT team will coordinate a convenient time for pickup.

Thank you for helping us reduce electronic waste and making better use of available resources.

Fall Lab and Classroom Software Request

If you would like any software added to departmental labs, smart classrooms, or IT computer labs, or if you want to make sure particular software remains on a lab or classroom system, submit a service request to IT no later than Tuesday, July 15.

If you are using software that hasn't been used previously, be sure to provide proof of licensing as well as the installation media. Because of the complexity of running multiple applications for instructional use, software requests submitted after the deadline may not be available for immediate use at the beginning of the semester.

Upgrade to Windows 11 Before End of Life!

Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 in October, which means no more security updates, bug fixes, or new features. To stay secure and productive, we encourage everyone to upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible!

Watch this short video for an introduction to the changes.

Windows 11 offers improved performance, enhanced security, and a modern design. Contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.

Security Camera Upgrades

Throughout July, security camera upgrades will be completed across campus. Please know the schedule is an estimate and subject to change. Please refer to IT Service Alerts page for schedule information.
