NKU’s Mental Health Advisory Group (MHAG) consists of faculty and staff subject-matter experts in various fields related to mental health, as well as students and community volunteers passionate about addressing the stressors our students face. In July 2020, President Vaidya tasked this interdisciplinary group with spearheading a Presidential Mental Health Initiative aimed at addressing the increasing need for mental wellness among our students. He charged the MHAG with the following outcomes:
To build awareness among faculty, students and staff about scope of mental health resources available
To assess gaps and unmet needs in mental health support services to students
To identify a 3-year plan around areas of priority need using evidence-based best practices
To identify success metrics for tracking
To solicit partnerships and external support for key initiatives
