When the time comes for you to apply for first-time, full-time undergraduate (aka freshman) admission to NKU, there are a few steps that need to be completed. Please use this checklist to ensure all steps are completed in order to facilitate a smooth admission process.

  • Complete the online application to NKU using the first-time freshman application and pay the $40 application fee.
  • Make sure NKU is on your FAFSA. The NKU school code is 009275. Do this as early as possible!
  • If you've taken dual credit from any other colleges or universities, please have official transcripts sent electronically to or via mail to:

Northern Kentucky University
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
AC 400, Nunn Drive
Highland Heights, KY 41099

Once admitted, the following items should be taken care of, if applicable:

Note: Application, confirmation and orientation fees can be waived for cases of financial hardship. Please contact NKU to inquire.

If you're applying to schools other than NKU, we hope you'll keep us in consideration. We recommend applying to NKU by mid February to see what scholarships you may be eligible for. In the meantime, you'll need to request your NKU transcript be sent to any other schools you are applying to after you have completed your dual-credit courses.
