The R.O.C.K.S Summer Institute is scheduled for August 13, 2022 - August 17, 2022. Arrival and move in is Saturday, August 13, 2022! Following the R.O.C.K.S. Institute, students will participate in the program for the full academic year.
Once accepted into the R.O.C.K.S. Program, students will receive a link via their NKU email account. Make sure you begin checking your NKU email account regularly as this is where most NKU communications will come to.
In conjunction with NKU Housing and Residence Life, you can begin your college career with a guide to success! NKU's R.O.C.K.S. Living Learning Community focuses on students who are new to NKU through programming and community building! You will develop effective study habits and skills that can increase your potential for success while gaining exposure to valuable resources available on NKU's campus! NKU R.O.C.K.S. residential students are required to live in the designated Living Learning Community (unless other accommodations are pre-approved).
No, there is not an official dress code, but we do ask that all students please dress respectfully. There will be sessions when we have guest presenters or University leadership visiting us. Since the students will be representatives of NKU, ROCKS, and our office, we do ask that you do not show up with anything inappropriate, pajamas, etc. Also, be sure to bring layers, the temperature may vary in each building.
August 17 is a free day for students to relax and or prepare for new student orientation and their first day of classes.
R.O.C.K.S. students will join all incoming students for Orientation from August 18, 2022 - August 21, 2022. Students are required to participate in the 3-day mandatory orientation for incoming freshmen. More information can be found on the Orientation webpage.
R.O.C.K.S.students will also be required to assist in the Annual Move In event as volunteers on Thursday, August 18, 2022. More information will be shared during the program.
When you move in on Aug 13th you will be moving into your residence hall (often referred to as “dorm”) for the year. Bring everything that you will need for the school year and make sure to follow the check list provided by the housing office which lists what you can and can’t have on campus and in the residence hall rooms.
