Main Entry from the Courtyard
NKU's New Residence Hall was first dreamed back in early 2017. Campus partners, including University Housing, Student Affairs, Campus Planning, and Operations & Maintenance, collaborated and began to look for community partners starting in June 2018. NKU selected Moody Nolan and Lord Aeck Sargent as architects and Messer Construction as the construction manager. This new 297 bed building will herald the first new construction for University Housing in 17 years, since University Suites was finished in 2003. Based on significant input from students and a marketing study conducted in 2017, the New Residence Hall is primarily suite style living with 2-bedroom suites, each housing 4 students. With a large, open common living area on the first floor and cozy living spaces at the intersection of the two wings on each floor, there is ample space for students to gather, socialize, study, and develop lasting relationships during their journey through NKU.
Construction on the New Residence Hall began in April 2020 for an August 2021 opening. The official groundbreaking for the building occurred on May 27, 2020, and featured President Ashish Vaidya and staff from SGA, University Housing, Campus Planning, Moody Nolan, Lord Aeck Sargent, and Messer Construction.
