Students who join LAMP will participate in a year-long experience where they will receive mentorship and access to opportunities to ensure academic, social, and personal success. LAMP students will have the option to enroll in a LAMP specific UNV 101 course - a class to assist students in the transition to college. Additionally, LAMP students will join a support system of faculty, staff, students, and community members. Students who plan to live in NKU University Housing will also move in a week before classes begin!
The LAMP Orientation occurs in mid-August, prior to the start of Fall classes. Following the LAMP Orientation, students will participate in the program for the full academic year.
LAMP students will spend time building community with other LAMP participants, getting to know LAMP mentors, and preparing for a successful first year of college! Students will meet with NKU faculty and staff to learn more about their program of study and learn how to get involved in student organizations.
Students participating in the LAMP Orientation will receive an email with a list of planned activities.
LAMP will cover the majority of meals throughout the orientation. However, there will be some meals that students will be responsible for. Students will receive a schedule ahead of time that will state which meals are covered.
No, LAMP is open to all commuter and residential students.
Detailed schedules will be sent to all participants in early August each year.
The days between the end of orientation and when classes begin, students are encouraged to relax, prepare for new student orientation, and get ready for their first day of classes. LAMP students will join all incoming students for the NKU Orientation. ALL students are required to participate in the mandatory orientation for incoming freshmen.
