Bystander Intevention is an evidence-based strategy to prevent interpersonal violence. It relies on bystanders, or those witnessing but not directly impacted by violence, to actively intervene in situations that may result in violence as well as engage in proactive behaviors to prevent violence from occurring in the first place.
NVP provides Bystander Intervention workshops for NKU faculty, staff, and students. Workshops are scheduled at your convenience and can be tailored to your specific student group, department, or office. Workshop participants learn how to recognize warning signs of potential violence, address personal barriers to intervention, and learn multiple strategies to actively intervene as bystanders.
