Subject: Honors Executive Director
Dear Campus Community,
With the departure of Dr. Jim Buss as Dean of the Honors College on July 1, Provost Cecil and I are seeking a strong faculty leader who can help with the day-to-day management of honors while the university seeks a future permanent leader for the college. The Executive Director of Honors will work with the Honors College faculty and staff to develop honors course schedules, make decisions about honors funding allocations, and create a collaborative environment that allows faculty and staff to maximize their own talents and resources. The Executive Director will report to Vice Provost Abdou Ndoye, who Provost Cecil has appointed as temporary Acting Dean of Honors, in order to ensure communication between the Office of the Provost, the Deans Council, and the Honors College itself. While Dr. Ndoye will serve as Acting Dean for these purposes, the Executive Director will have the latitude to guide the Honors College through this transitional period. Due to the timing of Dean Buss’s departure, it will be impossible to search for a permanent replacement until next year, but our hope is that the Executive Director will be able to continue working in the Honors College alongside a permanent dean after that hire is made.
Thus, I am requesting help from the university community in identifying an NKU faculty member who might serve as the Executive Director of Honors. We are seeking someone with the following skills and expertise:
A small committee led by Dean Buss will evaluate the candidates and make a recommendation to Provost Cecil. If you are interested in serving as Executive Director of the Honors College, please submit a letter of interest and a CV to Dr. Jim Buss, bussj1@nku.edu by Friday, April 1, at 5 p.m.
Thank you,
Bonita J. Brown, J.D.
