Subject: Organizational Announcement
Dear NKU community,
The end of the academic year is an appropriate time for assessing and making transitions. With that in mind, I write to share news about organizational changes within the Division of Student Affairs. Dr. Eddie Howard, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, will transition from the university to pursue other opportunities effective May 31.
Dr. Howard has overseen the Division of Student Affairs since January 2021, with additional recent responsibility for enrollment and admissions. Under his leadership, the division has adopted a new strategic plan, expanded student support services, increased student engagement programs as we returned to campus from COVID, implemented the Gold Folder, revised the Coordinated Care Model and worked to strengthen and improve our financial position. And over the last several months, Dr. Howard has worked diligently to create an enrollment strategy that seeks to solidify our enrollment outlook.
I want to thank Dr. Howard for the work he led in the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and his tireless work on behalf of our students.
With this leadership transition, NKU will implement organizational changes within the division, to ensure leadership continuity and strengthen our focus on key functions.
These changes will continue during my tenure as interim president, and longer-term decisions regarding the organization of student affairs will be made by the next president. We know that there are many details to work through in this new structure, and Provost Cecil, Vice President Alltop, and I will meet with the student affairs staff over the coming days to answer questions. After those meetings, more details will be provided in a follow-up communication.
Thank you for all that you do for Northern Kentucky University and our students.
Sincerely,
Bonita J. Brown, J.D.
Interim President
