Dear NKU Students, Faculty and Staff,
I am writing to share updates regarding an issue that received significant media attention across the country today. As many of you have seen, last night, the White House Office of Management and Budget issued a short memorandum that ordered a “pause” to a wide range of federal grants, loans and other financial assistance programs.
Earlier today, the U.S. Department of Education confirmed that this pause does not impact Direct Loans, Pell Grants, Federal Work-Study programs, and other federal student aid funds. Those will continue without interruption.
With respect to the status of other federal grants and assistance, we will continue to monitor updates from Washington and gather insights from our higher education colleagues around the country. The OMB action is also being challenged in court, and a federal judge has already halted implementation of that “pause” until next week. As this unfolds, we will share what we know with you.
As always, our priority is to ensure continuity in the support and opportunities we provide to our students, faculty and staff.
Best Regards,
Cady Short-Thompson
