There are numerous ways to promote your career opportunities at NKU!
NKU hosts several career fairs throughout the academic year. There are several fall career fairs, with specialized areas of focus. The spring offers the biggest single career fair of the year (Career Expo) plus the education-focused career fairs.
Because space is limited, NKU's career fairs are limited to employers recruiting for internship/co-op and full-time/degree-required positions. Employers register for NKU's career fairs via Handshake. For dates and details, click here.
Handshake is your one-stop shop for posting your positions at NKU! As a self-service resource, Handshake allows you to manage your available positions (and see your past positions), schedule on-campus interviews, register for career fairs, search for qualified
candidates, and email a targeted group of students inviting them to apply.
For more information on Handshake, click here!
Career Services offers numerous interview rooms for your on-campus interviews. The best option is to schedule an on-campus interview date in conjunction with your career fair attendance, so you can promote the date (and schedule students for interviews) at your career fair table. The most popular times for on-campus interviews are the two to three weeks following each career fair.
If interested, submit an on-campus recruiting request via Handshake or contact Amanda Meeker, Associate Director, for assistance. Amanda can be reached at meekera1@nku.edu or 859-572-1543.
Hold a presentation to connect in-depth with students. These sessions offer a way to disseminate more information regarding:
Information Sessions can be held in conjunction with an on-campus interview or on their own. We recommend inviting students via Handshake as well as faculty, as they can assist in directing students toward your opportunities.
We suggest a minimum of four weeks of lead time to allow scheduling availability and so you can adequately market the session to students and faculty.
If you are interested in an Information Session, contact Amanda Meeker, Associate Director, at meekera1@nku.edu or 859-572-1543.
Information tables provide employers with an opportunity to build brand presence on campus, to distribute job applications and other materials, and to provide information to a variety of students. Information tables are scheduled during the lunch rush in our Student Union building, 2nd Floor Lobby, from 10 am - 2 pm, primarily on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
This option is effective for positions exhibiting one or more of the following characteristics:
The Student Union receives heavy traffic and provides an excellent location to showcase an organization and increase visibility on campus. Because students are not anticipating meeting you, your signage and welcoming body language are essential. Below are some tips for increasing engagement at your informaiton table:
To schedule an information table, contact Sydney Gebka, Administrative Specialist, at gebkas2@nku.edu or 859-572-5680.
NKU allows the posting of flyers/posters as long as they are affiliated with a Northern Kentucky University student organization or department. Career Services will provide an affiliation stamp for employer flyers, as long as the employer and positions align with the Recruitment Policies. NKU's Poster Policy can be found here.
To hang flyers on campus, follow the steps below.
Student organizations are a great way to connect with an engaged audience of students. The full listing of registered student organizations can be found through the Office of Student Engagement's database, myEngagement. Using the search box, you can find academic, social, and special interest organizations (e.g. searching for "biology" results in the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society).
To partner with the Colleges, contact the liaison below or follow the link to view faculty. Some colleges have large special events with employer partners and sponsors. Many faculty are interested in hosting employers for client-based projects, in-depth case studies, data analysis projects, etc.
