Effective Communication Is Important

Whether you're hosting a nationally renowned speaker, coordinating a philanthropy fundraiser for your student organization or trying to generate interest in a project you're working on, communication to the campus community is critical to your success. If the more than 15,000 students and 2,000 employees on our campus aren't aware of your event, fundraiser or project, chances are it won't be successful.

While this may seem like a daunting task, fear not—the Office of Marketing & Communications is here to help. We've spent a lot of time figuring out ways to communicate to the students, workers and guests of our campus. Needless to say, we've got a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn't. Oh, and we've discovered a few tricks along the way that are sure to be beneficial to you and your organization.

Handling Media Attention

If you're dealing with an event where the public interest would extend beyond the borders of our campus, or if your NKU organization happens to find itself in the middle of something that might generate unsolicited media interest, let us help. In an instant, your entire organization—and the university itself—can be faced with a media crisis. And in the bright glare of the television lights, the smallest misstep becomes magnified. Let us help you to avoid such mistakes. We've done countless interviews and have gotten fairly good at it over time.

So if you're looking to promote an event on campus or need help handling a media crisis, give us a call. We're here to help.

Getting the Word Out

How involved will we be in helping you spread the word? That depends on you. Some people just want a list of campus communication vehicles (if you're one of these people, click here and have a nice day!) and then want to handle things themselves. This is great! Others need a little more help, and that's fine, too. We're more than happy to offer as much—or as little—assistance as needed to help get your message out.
