The Grounds Department at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) is responsible for the upkeep of turf, sidewalks, and roads across the Highland Heights campus. Their duties also encompass snow and ice removal, outdoor trash and litter management, and the maintenance of athletic fields.

The Horticulture Department at NKU is dedicated to the creation, development, and maintenance of gardens and landscapes on the Highland Heights campus, ensuring the highest level of service to the university. Their responsibilities extend to landscape design, the installation of new plant materials, pond management, and various other projects.

NKU earned The 2014 PGMS Gold Medal which is given to an individual or entity to recognize them for outstanding and long-term achievements and/or contributions to the green industry.
