Subject:  Announcing a special summer schedule for staff and faculty

Dear Colleagues,

Our campus has been a little less active these past couple of weeks with so many of our students and faculty taking some well-deserved time off from classes, but my heart is still full of gratitude for the way this community came together over the past several months of transition. I truly appreciate the hard work and support of our staff and faculty through the spring semester and I hope everyone gets a chance to rest and rejuvenate this summer while spending some needed time with family and friends.

Please note that the university will again be closed on Monday, June 19, in celebration of Juneteenth, a federal holiday that was added to the NKU holiday calendar for the first time last year. In addition, I am happy to announce a special summer schedule that will include an extra day off for each of us on Monday, July 3, creating a four-day weekend around the Independence Day holiday.

Additionally, beginning Friday, June 16, and lasting through Friday, August 4, we will observe early shutdowns on Fridays by closing at 2 p.m. Employees working other shifts may work with their supervisor to schedule 2.5 hours of release time and employees will be paid as usual for the released time.

Please stay tuned as Human Resources will share additional details later this week. In the meantime, thank you again for all you do for our students, this university and the community. I hope your summer will be peaceful and fulfilling.

Sincerely,

Bonita J. Brown, J.D.
