Senate Scholarship Information: Northern Kentucky University, Greater Cincinnati Region

Our Faculty Senate Scholarship Committee is a sub-committee of the
Faculty Senate Benefits Committee.

The Faculty Senate Scholarship was created in 1986.
Every year since, we have proudly awarded scholarships
to the children of NKU faculty!

Eligibility

An applicant must be the child of a full-time faculty member of Northern Kentucky University, and must be an undergraduate student when the scholarship is in force.
The applicant must be an NKU student, or must have an admissions application on file with the Admissions Office.
The applicant must register for 12 or more semester hours, during the two semesters the scholarship can be used. The classes taken must count towards a degree program.

Application Process

Students should begin by filling out the application form, available at this link Application for Scholarship. [Also linked below] The form also can be picked up at the Faculty Senate Office, Lucas Administration Center 105, or it can be requested by e-mailing the Faculty Senate office Grace Hiles at hilesg1@nku.edu.

Applicants must include two letters of recommendation; letters must not be from applicant’s relatives. If letters are not included with the application they may be sent via email to hilesg1@nku.edu . Please be sure they are compliant with FERPA. Due to FERPA and care for the security of the applicant’s private information, the additional documentation would be best delivered via hard copy.

Applicants may optionally include additional documentation which would improve their chances of selection: e.g. ACT score reports, certificates, honors, recognitions

Selection & Evaluation

A selection committee evaluates each application based on the information provided and letters of recommendation. The selection committee consists of members from the Faculty Senate Benefits Committee as well as a representative from the Financial Aid Office. This is a competitive award with typically two half in-state tuition scholarships and one $500 book scholarship awarded each year, depending on the committee’s decision.
