Tips to Increase Movement During the Day:
- Follow the 60:3 Rule: After sitting for 60 minutes, get up and move around for 3 minutes. Set a reminder on your phone or in your work calendar.
- When talking on the phone, listening to a podcast or watching a webinar, get up and walk around.
- Take a walk on your lunch break. It can be 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes, depending on how much time you have to spare after eating.
- Use a restroom that is farther away to add more steps in your day.
- Park farther away from your destination if time permits.
- Turn off your camera in virtual meetings when appropriate and move around.
- Schedule time during a long meeting and in between meetings to move.
- Schedule time for exercise in the morning before work, at lunch time or in the evening. Block out the time in your calendar and treat it like an appointment.
- Move while watching your favorite shows. Use commercial breaks to move or get up and move between episodes.
