Dear NKU campus community,
It is with a heavy heart that I share news of the passing of NKU junior, Lawson Murdock. Lawson was a finance major in the Haile College of Business. He passed away on February 20, 2024. The loss of a member of our university community is deeply felt by all of us. We extend our deepest condolences to Lawson’s family, friends, classmates, professors, and all of those who knew and loved him.
Lawson was a beloved son, brother, friend, and classmate. His professors describe him as an excellent student who was very engaged in class and who always had a positive attitude. Lawson will be remembered for his radiant smile and joyful laughter, which illuminated the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we grapple with the shock and sadness of this tragic loss, we all need to prioritize our mental well-being and reach out for help when needed. NKU offers a range of resources and support services for students, faculty, and staff. I encourage anyone who is struggling to seek help and support from these resources:
During this difficult time, I urge each of you to take special care of yourselves and each other. NKU is a genuinely caring community. I know from experience that the support and goodness of our colleagues and friends here will buoy our collective spirits as we grieve the loss of Lawson.
