Tell me about life pre-NKU. Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Why did you choose NKU? What kept you here?
I chose NKU because while researching it showed they had a great journalism program here and what has kept me is the welcoming atmosphere and community.
Can you tell me a little about what you're studying?
I am studying
journalism with a minor in
communications. What I would like to do with that is to eventually become a broadcast journalist.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
What Black History Month means to me is recognizing important individuals that have paved a way and made sacrifices for future generations to come.
Can you talk about the importance of having AASI and NKU R.O.C.K.S. on campus?
Attending a predominantly white institution, it is important to have AASI and NKU R.O.C.K.S. on campus so that African Americans have a sense of support in students education, socially and mental support.
How has your time with NKU R.O.C.K.S (or any NKU professors, programs, organizations, etc.) shaped your identity?
My time with NKU R.O.C.K.S has helped me shape my identity and helped me become a more confident African American woman. With the different programs and organizations included into NKU R.O.C.K.S it has helped me to branch out and become apart of several different organizations on campus including become a mentor for NKU R.O.C.K.S, a member of Nu Upsilon Black Women’s Honorary and many more organizations.
Describe NKU in one word.
Community.
