Danielle Polion

Student, Electronic Media & Broadcasting

"Danielle has impacted NKU in the best of ways. No matter where she goes, she leaves people smiling and feeling valued. She does so much from her work in her sorority, to representing people of color, and additionally extending a warm welcome to all. When I first got to campus, Danielle reached out to me to grab lunch. She helped me figure out the campus more and feel as if I was not so alone here. She truly is an inspiration to all she comes in contact with."

"My favorite thing about NKU is the amazing people that surround the campus. Between the staff, faculty and students, NKU has truly become my home away from home."

What is your favorite thing about NKU?
My favorite thing about NKU is the amazing people that surround the campus. Between the staff, faculty and students, NKU has truly become my home away from home.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? What makes that spot so special?
Loch Norse is my favorite place to go on campus. There’s something so therapeutic about staring at water for me. It give me a chance to reflect on life and think about what’s next for my future.

What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think about NKU?
Community is the first word that comes to my mind when I think about NKU. The campus is filled with a family dynamic that is supportive of its students academically, mentally, physically, emotionally, etc.

What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
My favorite way to spend my free time is by writing poetry, supporting events happening in NKU’s AASI office, and spending time with family, friends and my sorority sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

What is your greatest passion?
It’s hard to state my greatest passion, I have so many! However, I am a huge advocate for mental health & mentorship! I check in with myself daily and ask myself how I’m feeling to make sure I am in tune with my emotions, and I encourage others to do the same. I also surround myself with mentors who constantly offer me wisdom and encouragement on how I can get to where I want to go in life.

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or NKU that you want folks to know.
Im a senior majoring in electronic media and broadcasting with a minor in theatre from Louisville, Kentucky. On campus, I serve as a lead mentor for the R.O.C.K.S. program, an ESPN Production crew worker under the Media Services office and the proud Vice President of the Sensational Sigma Zeta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. After graduation in May, I plan to pursue my master’s degree in Communications.
