Student, Public Relations
"Emily is an outstanding member of the NKU community. She is a leader in every sense of the word—she is an example of kindness for those around her, allows those around her to become leaders themselves and won't quit until her job is done. She works hard to make the organizations she is in and the entire university a place where everyone feels they belong."
What is your favorite thing about NKU?
The people! The students, faculty and staff at NKU make this a truly special place. From faculty members who go the extra mile for students to classmates and friends I have met along the way, NKU would not be what it is without the people.
Where is your favorite spot on campus? What makes that spot so special?
Griffin Hall! Griffin is where my major is housed and where I spend most of my time on campus. Whether I’m at work in Informatics+ or attending class, the building has truly become a second home to me.
What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think about NKU?
Opportunities. The opportunities NKU has provided myself and those around me have shaped me into the person I am today and the person I will be in my professional and personal lives. Having experiences such as serving as the SGA secretary of public relations, the Informatics+ event and communications apprentice and the president of my sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma, have given me invaluable opportunities to grow both my career field and as an individual.
What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time with my friends singing karaoke, playing game pigeon games, doing crafts and even just studying. I love spending time at the beach, reading, learning about astrology and growing my crystal collection.
What is your greatest passion?
Making connections. I love finding ways to connect with other people. Whether it’s through interacting with others at events on campus, building one-on-one relationships with members of my sorority or finding a common interest with my professors, I enjoy finding ways I can relate to others. That’s why I’m majoring in public relations—to make building relationships my career.
